Linn Launch on the Allegheny River

Launch your canoe or kayak into the Allegheny River in Portville!

The parking lot has 15 spaces and has a port-a-potty.

Water access is a paved road to the waters edge.

A similar launch has been built downstream in Allegany near the First Street Bridge.  This launch also has plenty of parking available and has access to a number of nearby restaurants, stores and businesses.  If that's too far to paddle, you can pull out at a paved launch near the South Union Street Bridge on Rt. 16S in Olean.

Gleason Hollow Launch to Linn Launch is approximately 2.5 miles.

The Portville to Olean stretch is approximately 5.5 miles and takes approximately 3 hours depending on water level and wind speed.  (Port a pot in Portville)

The Olean to Allegany stretch is approximately 5 miles and takes approximately 2 hours.  (St. Bonaventure has a rest room with map & directions along river bank)

The Allegany to Salamanca stretch is approximately 22 miles and takes about 7 hours.  (Allegany has a restroom facility)
